Budjerah wields his custom Acoustasonic Strat in latest Fender Sessions vid

Coodjinburra artist Budjerah has had a massive few years: Following the release of his debut self-titled EP in 2021, which won immediate high rotation on Triple J, the Tweed Heads local has toured relentlessly with a range of artists including The Avalanches and Ed Sheeran.

Budjerah's custom Acoustasonic Strat features heavily in his newly released Fender Sessions video, which you can watch above. The performance features pared back takes on the standalone single Sky, Missing You from his self-titled EP, and Talk from last year's Conversations EP.

Speaking to Australian Guitar last year, Budjerah explains the significance of the art that's emblazoned on the Acoustasonic Strat seen in the vid above. "Budjerah means ‘first light’, because I was born as the sun rose in the morning; and if you look at the artwork, there’s a big circle just above the sound hole – that’s the Morning Star, which is the last star to leave the sky in the morning.

"And then there’s The Three Brothers: in Bundjalung, all the tribes come from The Three Brothers, that’s like the start of the story for Bundjalung nation. So it’s really special, to see all those things represented in the artwork."

Budjerah's most recent single Therapy released in March; you can check out the video below. He plays the Sydney Opera House on May 31.
